Thoughtful Thursday: To the Heart of the Matter…

Happy Thursday Everyone! Wellness Wednesday was put on hold yesterday due to my daughter having a fever and throwing up. I am please to say after prayer and a little medicine she is ok.

Well since it is Black History Month and National Heart Month I could not ignore blogging about the state of heart disease in African Americans. This is always a topic that hits home for me because my grandfather died from heart disease when I was a child. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the leading cause of death in African Americans is heart disease. This is no surprise to me because I have so many family members with hypertension. The root of the issue usually comes from a poor diet and lack of exercise. The can be other contributions to it, but these are the main ones. I just want to get us thinking this “Thoughtful Thursday” and keep awareness at the front of this discussion. No matter what race you are, we can all benefit from diet changes and daily exercise. In addition try and keep your stress to a minimum and get plenty of sleep. I hope this blesses someone today.
