Thoughtful Thursday: Are You Sore?

I woke up this morning with stiff and sore muscles. I’ve been adding more to my daily activity by walking on my break at work and by extending my workout. I can truly say I am feeling it.  Soreness can occur when you are doing a continuous workout regime with no rest. At the muscle level it is mini tears that occur in you muscle fibers. It is important to care for yourself before further injury can occur. My 4 tips to recovery include rest, protein, water, and soaking.

Rest: There is no better recovery. Allow your body to naturally take the steps to help you recover. By time it is over you are ready for the next workout, you will feel refreshed and ready to tackle that work out.

Protein: It is proven to quicken your recovery and help build fibers that have been torn by exercise. Don’t always resort to protein powders either. Try finding it in foods like beef, chicken, broccoli, and spinach,

Water: Remember to drink plenty of water. Water allows blood to move more freely through your body. It also flushes out you system eliminating harmful toxins in your muscles.

Soaking: I strongly recommend a nice long bath, and make it a hot bath. The steam and heat will help you in relaxation of your muscles and increase your blood flow.

Are you sore like me? Then take my tips into consideration, and now it is time for me to rest too. Good night everyone!
