My post today is for all my fellow runners out there. When you feel yourself tired and starting to tense up do like one of my past coaches told me to do, “Lighten Up, Don’t Tighten Up”.Running relax actually allows you to run faster. You are able to focus on the race ahead. You begin to feel the way in which your body is moving, and will result in you paying more attention to your biomechanics. When you put too much effort forward when you run, your muscles tighten. When you run relaxed your muscles can stay loose and you will find yourself having a greater range of motion.
What’s funny is this can be applied to other areas of your life as well. When life gets you stressed remember to stay relaxed. I have to be honest, I have been feeling a lot of stress lately in my life and I haven’t been dealing with it correctly. I find the most relaxation after I work out, so that is what I do. I can sleep peacefully and just be me. So apply this principle while running, working out, at work, or whenever else you feel stressed. Remember “Lighten Up, Don’t Tighten Up” and have a great night!
