Getting Rid Of Negative Thoughts

For the past 2 to 3 weeks I have been flooding my brain with postive energy. Day and night I listen to people like Les Brown, Lisa Nichols, and Eric Thomas to find motivation in my daily tasks. Through all their videos they seem to all make one astounding point, to get rid of the negative thoughts in your head. Check you negative emotions. Tell them to stop ruling your life.

As a health educator, wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend I find it a constant struggle to fight off the negative thoughts that I have. I try my best to truly listen and respond, but sometimes it may be best just to  support certain people from afar. More and more I am learning that if I want to grow I must continually be involved positively. I am really trying to work on myself, and how can I “Tackle my Tuesday” or any day for that fact with a negative state of mind. I can’t.   I won’t anymore, so I will choose to use positive psychology to help me day in and day out. Reading God’s word, listening to motivational speakers, and dancing (to a little ratched and a little R&B) my way to a better me to affect change in my circle.

Thankful For The Journey

As I road home tonight I was amazed by God’s work in nature. I could see the sliver linings made by the left over snow on the mountains. I gazed at the lights twinkling in the city below, and being so close to the top of the mountains I could see the stars and all their brilliance. As I continued to drive, in peace (because the kiddos were sleep in the back), I couldn’t help but be thankful for the journey. This journey we call life. That moment blessed me beyond measure. Thinking of all I’ve been through, and how I came out in victory. Also being thankful for where I am at, but knowing that I am capable of so much more. The blessing was in that moment. Finding time to just “be”.

Too many times we are bogged down by everything else in life that we don’t stop to look at all the God given beauty around us. It is gorgeous, and although it is the end of the day, that alone gave me motivation to move into the next day. To grow stronger physically and mentally and continually seek out my dreams. I hope you can do the same. Become the best version of yourself. Not taking anything for granted, and truly realizing that the small things matter.

Woodlawn

Sometimes things just line up ever so nicely in your life, and when you least expect it. Tonight I was blessed with the chance to watch Woodlawn. I can’t tell you how much this movie blessed me. It is the story of a young man that leads his football team to a life victory by his unshakable faith all while battling racism. I had chills while watching it, and of course it made me think. No of us are here by mistake, and our lives are bigger than anything we can imagine. What lies is the difference between someone who wants to accept all their life has to offer and get in the game or those that want to settle by sitting on the side lines. Everyone has struggles. It’s called life, but we are only given one so let’s try to be the best we can physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is a great movie, and I suggest anyone to watch it. One, to see how God can move in your life, and two, to see how sports can bring us altogether. It only starts with one person. Will you be tha person of change?

Family Wellness

Have you ever sat back on thought about how your family effects your wellness? Do they make you feel full of joy, or do they tend to bring you down? Are they uplifting or are they judgmental? Whatever your family may look like or make you feel like, they can have a substantial effect on your health. Take for instance the person who have never known or spoke with their biological parents. It is more than likely that this type of lack in their lives is shifting the person they are today. Then there are those who’s parents have always been there to provide loving support.  They may have use these relationships to become a better person.

The family dynamic can be very tricky sometimes. You can try to please everyone but never will, and there is almost always a point when the child has to prove themselves valid to their parents.

Various studies have shown that the more positive our home life is the better our health will be. Whether the relationship is between spouse or children, grandmother or cousin, the better the relationship, the better off we will be, and we’ll live longer too. I believe that since we deal with these people on a daily basis they can begin to influence our way of thing (whether good or bad).

What is the status of your family wellness? Are there areas you can improve on? Are there bonds that need mending, or is the positive  always flowing? Whatever your vision of family wellness remember that it starts with you.

Step In The Name Of Fitness

Have you been making a strong effort to be a better you? So many things qualify as a physical activity. Whether it’s cooking, vacuuming, or washing the dishes, it will always burn calories. With all that said, did you know that you are mastering an exercise everyday? It is called walking, and it is something we have to do daily! Question is, are you doing enough for it? Well did you also know you have a very easy way to measure it, and it’s right on your phone!  It is called a smart phone for a reason people!!! Most all phones now come with a health application. A place to record your steps, food, and heart rate. Did you know that on new Samsung smartphones that your camera is also a heart rate and stress monitor?  Oh yes! So you have no excuse to track your health, especially since it is on all our favorite thing… our phone. So waist no more time, go step, run, eat, track yourself in the name of fitness!

At The End Of The Day

When we go through certain things, specifically emotionally, it effects us in all types of ways. Whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual it can take a toll on our bodies day in and day out. I’ve been gone too long. It seems I’ve been in a bit of a writing slump due to other circumstances in my life. Ups and downs, sadness and happiness have been present in my life in the last month or so, but I have finally realized that at the end of the day it is up to me to make my dreams come true. No more excuses. No more set backs. Motivation comes from within first. My goal is to build myself up, and to build others up as well. It is never too late to live your purpose. I surely plan to live mine.
